“The Hidden City” receives the Richard Leacock Award

“The Hidden City” wins the Richard Leacock Award for Best Feature Film in the 19th Las Palmas International Film Festival!

The jury of the section Canarias Cinema has awarded the work by Víctor Moreno because of making “a trip to the bowels of civilization through an impeccable aesthetic proposal, of an outstanding care and neatness, where a powerful sound treatment stands out” and because of reaching “a disturbing and fascinating atmosphere where reality and science fiction mix, and for showing us the beauty that is hidden under our feet, and making us live an absolutely visceral, sensory and enveloping experience”.

The Hidden City is a co-production by El Viaje Films, Rinoceronte Films, Kino Pravda, Pomme Hurlante Films and dirk manthey film UG.

“As Old as The World”, available on demand in Mujeres de Cine

The Video On Demand platform by Mujeres de Cine is now available. After its presentation, which took place yesterday during the festival Cine por mujeres, now you can enjoy a catalogue of 50 films. As Old as The World, the documentary film produced by Rinoceronte Films, is one of them.

“In Those Lands” and “The Hidden City” in Las Palmas International Film Festival

This week, In Those Lands participates in the 19th Las Palmas International Film Festival!

The short film directed by Nayra Sanz Fuentes will have its first screening in this festival next March 23rd. It will be at 5 pm in Multicines Monopol as a part of the section Canarias Cinema. After the exhibition there will be a meeting with the filmmakers.

In Those Lands will be shown again next March 23rd at 9 pm, also in Multicines Monopol.

After its recent participation in festivals from Netherlands, United States, Mexico and Greece, The Hidden City goes back to Canarias to join Las Palmas International Film Festival.

The feature documentary film directed by Víctor Moreno and co-produced by El Viaje Films, Rinoceronte Films, Kino Pravda, Pomme Hurlante Films and dirk manthey film UG will be shown next March 23rd at 9.30 am (in an exhibition for press and jury) and at 7 pm. In March 25th it will be screened again at 5 pm.

There will be meetings with the director after the sessions, which will take place in Multicines Monopol Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

“In Those Lands”, Best Short Film in IBAFF X!

The short film In Those Lands, directed by Nayra Sanz Fuentes, received the Best Short Film Award last night at the closing ceremony of the X International Film Festival of Murcia IBAFF, which took place in Filmoteca Regional Francisco Rabal.

The work of the Canarian filmmaker participated in the Official Short Film Section of the festival along with 13 other films from countries such as Germany, Thailand, Canada, Sweden, the Czech Republic and France, which have been screened in Murcia in sessions that took place between March 1 and 8.

The jury, composed of the curator, critic and cultural manager Isabel Tejeda, the audiovisual artist Pablo Sandoval and Rosa Martínez, cultural journalist, decided to award In Those Lands for being “a profoundly poetic film that is introduced in questions related to memory and identity of a place”.

New selections for “In Those Lands”, “The Hidden City” and “Sub Terrae”

In Those Lands started 2019 being screened in Fez International Film Festival, in Morocco, and will continue travelling to Murcia, the place where it was filmed, to participate in the Official Selection of the X IBAFF, Festival Internacional de Cine de Murcia, next March 4th in Filmoteca Regional Francisco Rabal.

The Hidden City, after being shown in Festival de Sevilla, International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), Muestra de Cine de Lanzarote and Film Comment Selects, it will be premiered in Mexico and Greece in Festival Internacional de Cine UNAM (FICUNAM) and Thessaloniki Documentary Festival. The screening in Ciudad de México will be in March 2nd and 4th and in Greece it will be seen next March 8th and 9th.

In addition, Sub Terrae continues receiving national and international selections: it will be back in Cineteca Madrid next March 1st and 3rd because of the event Directed by Women Spain and in March 2nd it will participate in La nuit blanche by Cinéma sous les étoiles (Montreal, Canada).

“The Hidden City”, premiered in the United States

“The Hidden City” will be premiered this week in the United States! The prestigious magazine Film Comment has selected it in the programme of the 19th Film Comment Selects, the festival organized every year in New York’s LincFilm Comment d in which they present, together with its directors, the films for which Film Comment bets, in this case for 2019.

The screening will be this Wednesday at 9:15 p.m. and there will be a colloquium with the director of the film, Victor Moreno.

“The Hidden City” receives the Best Cinematography award in Festival de Sevilla

After his participation in the Official Selection of Festival de Sevilla, the latest work directed by Víctor Moreno, The Hidden City, has been recognized with the award for Best Cinematography of the contest.

The jury of the festival, formed by Nerea Barros, Russ B. Collins, Marion Döring, Inés Nofuentes and Jonás Trueba, assured that “with this award, we want to pay tribute to the enigmatic visual concept of this film. Taking into account the close collaboration of the Director of Photography and the Director, these two artists embark us on a journey through the hidden labyrinths of a city: a masterful work thanks to its capture of images, its sequence shots and a soundtrack that converts it in pure and dazzling visual poetry”.

After this first participation in a festival of The Hidden City, the film will premiere internationally at IDFA, in the Netherlands, and will later return to Spain to participate in the 8th Muestra de Cine de Lanzarote.

“Sub Terrae”, awarded in Mexico International Silent Cinema Festival

The short film Sub Terrae has received the Adriana and Dolores Elhers recognition for the Best Documentary Short Film along with the work The Secret Sharer, by Filippo Ticozzia, in Mexico International Silent Cinema Festival.

We are very happy to share the award in this contest, which this year celebrates its third edition looking to celebrate the evolution of cinema as an art of entertainment, training and emancipation.
